Show some class, use your signal to pass

A person with “class” is someone who is conscious of other people, and considerate towards them. This person has a high standard of personal behavior. Is that you behind the wheel?

Most of us want to believe the best about others, but when you’ve been cut off by a driver who didn’t sign the intention to turn or change lanes, those good thoughts can turn ugly pretty quickly.

There’s a reason turn signals are required on every vehicle. It should be obvious, but we’ll put it out there anyway. Using your turn signal can help avoid crashes. When you let other drivers know what you’re planning to do, they can be prepared to move their vehicles accordingly, when you don’t, other drivers can be taken by surprise and not be able to react in time to avoid a crash.

A review of a study conducted by the Society of Automotive Engineers, estimated that approximately 2 million crashes per year are a direct result of this issue.

In case you forgot, here’s a little video to show you how to use a turn signal –

The fatality count of 154 is an increase of eight since last Monday. In all of 2016, 405 people were killed on Iowa highways. To see statistics published daily by the Office of Driver Services, go to the daily fatality report.
